Dunlap began studying violin at the age of 4. He is a 2013 Graduate of Lincoln High School. This fall he will be attending Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.   He has been a member of the Manitowoc Symphony since the eighth-grade.


Andrew has received many musical honors over the years, most recently appearing as a soloist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra as a finalist in the Bolz Young Artist Competition.  He participated in the Wisconsin Middle Level and High School Honors Orchestras multiple times and was an exemplary soloist award recipient at the Wisconsin School Music Association’s State Solo and Ensemble Festival in 2011.  A past winner of the Green Bay Youth Philharmonic’s Concerto Competition, he received honorable mention awards at the Milwaukee  Youth Orchestra’s Concerto Competition and the Milwaukee Symphony’s Young Artist Auditions in 2012.  He has also been a featured performer at the Wisconsin Association for Gifted and Talented State Conference.  On April 20th., he appeared as a soloist with the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra on a regular subscription concert.  Later this past spring, he appeared on Midday, a statewide program on Wisconsin Public Radio.


Andrew has studied with Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Carrie Kulas and currently is a student of Lawrence University Professor Samantha George.  He plans to pursue a career as a performing violinist.  In addition to his interest in music, Andrew enoys soccer, T’ai Chi, and chess.
